This sketch shows a busy harbor with ships of different sizes. On the left, buildings with smokestacks line the shore, and smoke rises from some of them. In the water, a small boat drifts near a larger ship with a tall sail. The waves are drawn with quick, light lines, and the whole scene feels calm but alive. The artist focused on how light hits the water and buildings, making everything look soft and slightly fuzzy. This style was common in the late 1800s when artists tried to capture how things *look* in real life, not just how they’re perfectly drawn. Look up Realism to see more examples of this style.
