Untitled is a 2003 graphite by Kerry James Marshall, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This drawing shows two black figures standing side by side. The person on the right has a huge, rounded head with a speech bubble above it saying, *"Everything's going to be alright... I just know it will!"* They’re wearing a checkered jacket and gloves, while the person on the left has a smaller head and a simple white shirt. The speech bubble stands out because it’s the only text in the whole piece. The artist used bold lines and shading to make the figures look solid and expressive. Look up cross-hatching to see how artists build shadows with layered lines.
Kerry James Marshall (born October 17, 1955) is an American artist and professor, known for his paintings of Black figures.
