Nymph with Satyrs (after Poussin) is a 1998 by Leon Kossoff, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Kossoff made this etching in 1998. It follows a painting by Nicolas Poussin but isn’t a copy. The print shows a nude figure with satyrs. Kossoff reworked this plate many times. He printed different proofs to test lines and shading. It shows how printmaking became his way to study drawing. His etchings after Old Masters explore old ideas in new lines. Nymph with Satyrs (after Poussin) is an etching by Leon Kossoff created in 1998. It is part of a series where Kossoff reinterpreted Old Master paintings by artists such as Poussin, Rembrandt, and Veronese. The work focuses on the compositional structure rather than color, reflecting Kossoff's exploration of line and form through printmaking. The etching was produced in collaboration with Ann Dowker and Marc Balakjian at Studio Prints.
