Egypt and Nubia: Volume II - No. 28, General View of Asouan and the Island of Elephantine is a 1838 by Louis Haghe, a Romanticism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This painting shows a quiet river with a few small boats floating near the shore. On the left bank, there’s a cluster of buildings and ruins on a high, rocky cliff. The sky is soft and hazy, with just a few clouds. Palm trees line the far bank, and the water looks calm. The boats seem to be carrying goods or people, but no one is clearly visible. The artist used light colors and smooth shading to make everything look peaceful and distant. If you like this style, check out Romanticism for more works like this.
Louis Haghe (17 March 1806 – 9 March 1885) was a lithographer and watercolourist from the Netherlands and then the United Kingdom.
