Ain khnab von Mansee wardt .. is a 1503 ink by Master of the Miracles of Mariazell, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This woodcut shows two scenes side by side. On the left, a woman in a halo floats above a town, holding a child. Below her, a small village sits under a cloudy sky. On the right, a man kneels beside a bed where a sick child lies surrounded by other children. The text at the bottom hints this tells a story about healing. The artist used sharp lines and simple shapes to pack a lot of detail into a small space. Look up woodcut to see how this printmaking technique works.
