Sir Martin Frobisher is a 1620 ink by Magdalena van de Passe, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a black-and-white portrait of a bearded man in a round frame. His collar is high, and his hair and mustache are thick. The background is plain, but the edges of the oval have text written in fancy letters. The text around the oval spells out his name in Latin: *"Sir Martin Frobisher."* The artist used fine lines to create shadows and texture, especially on his face and clothes. Check out how this was made using the technique: engraving.
