A Seller of Feather Dusters is a 1790 paint by Puqua, a Patna School of Painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
A man in a blue robe stands holding a bundle of feather dusters over one shoulder. His other hand carries a straw hat and a small broom. The feathers are bright—black, brown, and white—tied together in clusters. This looks like a street vendor’s everyday tools, painted with simple colors and clean lines. The note at the bottom says "Feather dusters for sale," written in careful handwriting. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more works like this.
A rectangular watercolour painting from 1790 by Puqua depicts a central figure dressed in blue carrying an assortment of feather dusters in varying sizes. The work is part of a set of 100 paintings illustrating different trades and occupations in Canton. Acquired by Parsons & Sons, it was accessioned into the collection in 1898, as recorded in the Asia Department registers following a 2022 provenance research project.
