Interior of flour mill, Emsworth, Hampshire. is a 1936 by Robert Arthur Wilson, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This sketch shows a worker in a flour mill, walking past a tall ladder and a closed door. The room has big wooden barrels and a curved conveyor belt. The lines are simple but detailed, with lots of shading to show textures like the worker’s coat and the rough floor. The artist used a technique called cross-hatching to create depth. The small, crisscrossed lines make the shadows and shapes pop without needing much color. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see this drawing in person.
