About this work

This is a drawing from the 1930s of the comedian W.C. Fields. It’s a simple line work piece, no color or shading. The artist captured Fields’ face with quick, confident strokes. The work’s only odd detail is the date. It’s labeled “ca. 1930s,” so it could be a few years off either way. If you like this style, look up the Victoria and Albert Museum.
