Duminica Mironosițelor is a 1840 by Simion Poienaru, a Romanticism work, held at National Museum of Transylvanian History.
This drawing shows three robed figures standing under a cross with a haloed face above them. The two women on the left hold candles, while the figure on the right has wings and a pale, blurred face. The colors are faded—mostly greens, browns, and whites—with some gold accents. The background looks like a simple stone wall. The faded paint and rough lines suggest this might have been made a long time ago. The names written above the figures look like they’re in a different language. If you like this style, check out Romanticism next.
Simion Poienaru liked to tuck little parties around his holy scenes—tiny figures dancing in the margins of Jesus’s resurrection, like uninvited guests who’d wandered in from a village wedding.
