This painting shows a man in riding clothes holding a horse’s hoof. The man looks tired, but focused. The horse’s leg is lifted, muscles tense. The background is plain, just a wall. What’s wild is Géricault didn’t paint this on canvas. He drew it on stone, like a sketch, to study shapes fast. He did this for a series called *Drawings on Stone*.
