One of twenty-nine drawings of details of architectural ornament taken from rubbings of stone decoration on monuments in Agra district, including Fatehpur Sikri and Sikandra. is a 1882 by Unknown, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This drawing shows two patterns carved into stone. The left side has sharp, repeating shapes—hexagons and diamonds—like a puzzle. The right side has swirling leaves and flowers, almost like vines wrapped around each other. Both designs look worn but still sharp, as if traced from real carvings. The note at the bottom says these were copied from old stonework in Agra, India. Someone pressed paper onto the carvings to capture the details—like a stencil. Want to see more?
