東海道五十三次 御油|Goyu is a 1838 ink by Utagawa Hiroshige, a Romanticism work, depicting Bridge, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This print shows a group of shirtless men carrying a long wooden pole across a bridge. Behind them, a tree with long, drooping branches stands near a small building with a thatched roof. The scene is set by a calm body of water, with a red flower floating on the surface. The bridge looks like a common path for workers, maybe moving supplies. The text on the sides is in Japanese, and the whole scene feels busy but orderly. Look up Utagawa Hiroshige next to see more of his work.
Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川 広重) or Andō Hiroshige (安藤 広重), born Andō Tokutarō (安藤 徳太郎; 1797 – 12 October 1858), was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, considered the last great master of that tradition.
