Kisojo no San Sen|木曽路之山川|The Kiso Mountains in Snow is an 8 ink by Utagawa Hiroshige, a Impressionism work, depicting Mountain, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This painting shows three snowy mountain scenes in a row. Jagged peaks rise from icy rivers, with trees clinging to the slopes. The sky is dark, dotted with tiny white stars. A winding path cuts through the center panel, leading to a small bridge over the water. The artist used ink and color to show depth in the snow and rocks. Notice how the trees stand out against the white landscape, almost like dark brushstrokes. Look up Utagawa Hiroshige next to see more of his winter mountain scenes.
Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川 広重) or Andō Hiroshige (安藤 広重), born Andō Tokutarō (安藤 徳太郎; 1797 – 12 October 1858), was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, considered the last great master of that tradition.
