江戸高名会亭尽 芝神明社内 車轍楼|Shiba Shinmeisha Uchi (Shatetsu-ro) is a 1840 ink by Utagawa Hiroshige, a Romanticism work, depicting Street, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This painting shows a busy street in front of a temple. People are walking in all directions, some carrying things. There are buildings on both sides of the street, with red lanterns hanging from them. The sky is light with a big red sun. In the foreground, a group of people are gathered near a building with a sign. They seem to be talking or waiting for something. The street is paved, and there are trees in the background. This painting is reminiscent of the work of Utagawa Hiroshige, who was known for his romantic landscapes.
Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川 広重) or Andō Hiroshige (安藤 広重), born Andō Tokutarō (安藤 徳太郎; 1797 – 12 October 1858), was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, considered the last great master of that tradition.
