This sketch shows five people walking through a wooded area. The trees loom large, their branches tangled and dark. The figures are drawn quickly, with loose lines and no clear details—just shapes moving forward. Notice how the artist used lots of crisscrossing lines to fill in shadows and clothes. It looks like they built up the dark areas by layering pencil strokes. Want to see more work like this? Check out cross-hatching.
