On June 20, 1615, Italian Baroque painter Salvator Rosa was born, known for his romanticized landscapes and history paintings set in dark, untamed nature. A true Renaissance man, he was also a poet, satirist, actor, musician, and printmaker. His work exerted considerable influence from the 17th to the 19th century.
