Tochigi Prefectural Museum of Fine Arts

The British landscape tradition is further represented by Thomas Gainsborough's River Landscape with Rustic Lovers, Mounted Herdsman driving Cattle and Sheep over a Bridge and Ruined Castle (circa 1781), Richard Wilson's Acqua Acetosa (circa 1754), and Joseph Mallord William Turner's Woman with Tambourine (circa 1840-1850). Claude Monet's early seascape Plage à Saint-Adresse (1864) and Constant Troyon's Watering the Stock (circa 1855-1860) represent French painting, while Alexandre Cabanel's Diana Hunting (1882) exemplifies academic French art. The contemporary collection includes Thomas Ruff's Portrait de Simone Buch (1988), Sophie Calle's Autobiographie - Le Strip-tease (1989), Patrick Caulfield's Dining, Kitchen, Living (1980), and Andy Goldsworthy's site-specific photographic work Maple Leaves Ouchiyama-mura (19 November 1991).
