After returning to Poland, he lived in Warsaw from 1885 to 1894 before moving to Częstochowa, where he worked at the Jasna Góra Monastery and ran his own art school. The painting titled Eve (1889) sparked controversy in Poland for its perceived boldness and was discussed in contemporary publications such as Biesiada Literacka. The work Untitled is documented in the artist's selected paintings list as dating from around 1875 to 1900. It was likely painted during his mature period in Warsaw or shortly after his return from abroad.

Pantaleon Szyndler operated within the Academic style, achieving recognition as a Polish painter known for nudes, religious subjects, and Orientalist works. His artistic formation spanned major European centers, including studies in Munich, Rome, and Paris under masters such as Alexandre Cabanel. While his painting *Eve* received an honorable mention at the 1889 Exposition Universelle, it sparked significant critical controversy in Poland. Detractors argued the depiction was too bold, resembling a woman in a boudoir rather than the biblical figure, while specific critiques from the magazine *Biesiada Literacka* focused on the anatomical proportions of the subject's feet. Beyond his technical training, Szyndler's work was influenced by Polish Romantic poetry, notably through his close friendship with and portraiture of Cyprian Norwid. Many of his canvases are now held in the National Museum in Warsaw.
