Thomas Prichard Rossiter (1818-1871) was an American painter born in New Haven, Connecticut. He trained under Nathaniel Jocelyn and began exhibiting at the National Academy of Design in the late 1830s. In 1840 he traveled to Europe with Asher B. Durand, John Kensett, and John Casilear, staying in Italy until 1846, when he returned to New York and shared a studio with Kensett.
He kept a Paris studio from 1853 to 1856. Rossiter painted portraits, religious subjects, and historical scenes, including a series on early American history such as Washington and Lafayette at Mount Vernon. In 1860 he settled at Cold Spring, New York, where he died in 1871.
