Maestro de los Luna

Maestro de los Luna, also called the Master of don Álvaro de Luna, is the conventional name given to an anonymous Spanish painter active in Toledo and Guadalajara in the late fifteenth century, roughly between 1483 and 1495. He worked in the Hispano-Flemish style then current in Castile, which combined the gold grounds and devotional subjects of late Gothic art with the detailed realism of Netherlandish painting. The name derives from his association with works connected to the Luna family, including the retablo of the Chapel of Santiago in Toledo Cathedral. He has been tentatively identified with the painter Juan Rodríguez de Segovia, though the attribution remains uncertain.
