Rue du gros-horloge, Rouen is a 1824 ink by Richard Parkes Bonington, a Romanticism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This street scene shows a busy city corner with a tall clock tower in the background. People in old-fashioned clothes walk, chat, and gather near buildings with fancy balconies and flags. The buildings look detailed, with lots of windows and decorations. The artist used a smooth, sketchy style to show light and shadow. The title at the bottom says it’s Rouen, a city in France.
