This sketch shows a crumbling old fortress with tall, jagged towers and thick stone walls. The buildings look worn, with broken rooftops and uneven edges. In the foreground, a rocky hillside slopes down to a small stream or ditch, and a tiny animal—maybe a dog—stands near the bottom right. The artist used fine lines to show every crack and shadow, making the ruins feel rough and real. This style was common in etchings, where ink is scratched into a metal plate. Look up etching to see how artists create these detailed prints.
