The story of this work

Overview

This albumen print depicts actress Marion Terry and belongs to a collection of 19th-century theatrical photographs assembled by Guy Tristram Little. The image was produced as a carte de visite, a small albumen print mounted on card, which became widely popular in the 1860s for collecting portraits of notable figures. The photograph was later removed from its backing and included in an album donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum after Little’s death in 1953.
