Copy after the fresco Noli Me Tangere by Fra Bartolomeo in the Villa dei Frati di San Marco, near Florence is a 1865 watercolor by Cesare Mariannecci, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a woman lying on the ground, half-dressed in a pale shift, while a robed figure kneels beside her, pointing upward. The background is blurry, with a hint of trees and a small building in the distance. The colors are soft—warm reds in the robe, pale skin tones, and muted greens outside. Notice the book the robed figure holds, with Latin words that hint at a religious story. The artist copied an older fresco but made it look more like a sketchy, light-filled scene. If you like this style, look up Cesare Mariannecci for more of his work.
