Title Page for "Multifariarum Casularum" is a 1559 ink by Hieronymus Cock, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a framed title page with old-style lettering. The border has a repeating pattern of swirls and leaves. Inside, there’s a block of Latin text at the top and a smaller block of Dutch below it. The page looks worn, with a mix of black ink and some hand-drawn lines. The Dutch text mentions "Antwerpen" (Antwerp) and a printer’s name, Hieronymus Cock. This was likely a book cover for a collection of designs. Next, look up etching to see how this technique works.
Hieronymus Cock, or Hieronymus Wellens de Cock, (1518 – 3 October 1570) was a Flemish painter and etcher as well as a publisher and distributor of prints.
