Landscape with church is a 1805 watercolor by Peter De Wint, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a quiet countryside scene with two tall, leafy trees in the foreground. Beyond them, a fence runs along a grassy field, and a lone figure walks near a distant church with a tall tower. The sky is soft and pale, and the colors are mostly muted greens and browns. The artist used loose, watery brushstrokes to suggest movement in the trees, almost like they’re swaying. This style was common in watercolors of the time. Peter De Wint was a prolific English painter, mostly in landscape painting in oils and watercolour. A number of his pictures are in Tate Britain, the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Collection, Lincoln. He died in London.
