Dominant colour
River - Sunset is a 1870 watercolor by Francis Armstrong, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a river at dusk, with soft light reflecting off the water. The sky is a mix of pale blues, pinks, and grays, while the land on the right side is dark and shadowy. In the distance, you can just make out a tall tower and some buildings, but everything looks fuzzy and blended. The brushstrokes are loose and quick, almost like the artist painted it fast while outside. The water has a rough, textured look, as if it’s moving. This style is called Impressionism.
A watercolour titled *River - Sunset* from 1870, signed by the artist Francis Armstrong, depicts a riverside scene at dusk.
