The Race is a 1850 by Thomas Gainsborough, depicting Donkey, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This print shows a wild scene with three kids and a donkey. One boy is riding the donkey, arms raised like he’s winning. Another kid is holding the donkey’s head while it bucks, and a girl stands nearby, looking up. In the background, a crowd watches from a distance, and the sky is light with a few clouds. The title *The Race* hints this might be about a playful competition. The donkey looks startled, and the kids seem to be having fun despite the chaos. Two boys race on galloping donkeys across an open field, the leading boy raising both arms in triumph as a small crowd watches and cheers in the distance. The scene was engraved from the original painting by Thomas Gainsborough.
