Mother and Child is a 1906 oil by Gari Melchers, a American Impressionism work, held at Art Institute of Chicago.
This painting depicts a tender moment between a mother and her child. The mother, dressed in a brown dress, holds the child close to her chest, with her arms wrapped around the child's body. The child, wearing a white shirt, looks directly at the viewer with a curious expression. The painting's use of warm colors and soft brushstrokes creates a sense of intimacy and warmth, drawing the viewer into the quiet moment between the mother and child. The artist's attention to detail is evident in the subtle expressions and textures of the subjects. To learn more about the artist behind this work, explore the paintings of Gari Melchers.
