The drawing depicts a cow tethered to a calf alongside a boatwoman carrying a child strapped to her back. It is part of a volume containing 179 sheets of drawings made in Bengal and Macau. The work was bequeathed in 1928 by James Orange as part of an album of 93 drawings by George Chinnery.
