勝川春章画 三代目市川団蔵|Kabuki Actor Ichikawa Danzō III is a 1764 ink by Katsukawa Shunshō, a Romanticism work, depicting Actor, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This print shows a man in bright red robes and a striped skirt, standing under a curved, windowed arch. His face is painted with bold lines—big eyes, a sharp nose—and he grips a fan in one hand while holding a sword in the other. The background is simple: a plain wall with a few decorative patterns along the top. Notice how the colors pop against the light background, and the way his outfit mixes bold reds with subtle stripes and patterns. The artist used clean lines and flat colors to make the figure stand out. If you like this, check out Katsukawa Shunshō.
