The Meguro Fudo Temple is a 1786 by Katsushika Hokusai, a Japonisme work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
The Meguro Fudo Temple is a drawing that shows a temple scene. It's from a time when the artist was still developing his style. The drawing is a hanshita-e, which is a final drawing for a woodblock print, and it gives us a glimpse into the artist's process. This final drawing for a woodblock print, created during Hokusai’s Shunro period (1779–1794), is part of the earliest known group of his signed works from this time. Measuring in chuban size, it remains unsigned, though the style of the signature on related drawings dates to 1784 onward. The work was acquired in 1910 from Mr. Hogitaro Inada and is documented in the Asia Department registers following a 2022 provenance research project.
