Augustus Hertzog zu Sachsen is a 1564 ink by Jakob Lucius the Elder, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a hand-colored woodcut of a serious-looking man with a white beard and ruff collar. He wears a dark robe with gold embroidery and holds a bunch of white feathers in one gloved hand. Above his head, two round badges sit like crowns—one red with a cross, the other green and black with stripes. The top of the image is packed with fancy German text listing his titles. The colors are flat but bright, with gold, green, and red standing out against the brown background. Look up the technique called woodcut next to see how this was made.
