Bordeaux, View from the Coast of Cénon is a 1879 by Maxime Lalanne, a Impressionism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This sketch shows a distant city with spires and rooftops, framed by thick, tangled trees in the foreground. The sky is mostly blank, with just a few wavy lines suggesting clouds. The whole scene is drawn in black ink, leaving the paper light around the edges. The artist packed the trees with tiny, crisscrossed lines to make them look dense and dark. The city in the background is simpler, with just a few sharp points for buildings. If you like this style, check out Impressionism.
