Guy Little Theatrical Photograph is a 1884 photographic by Moreno & Lopez, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This is a photograph of actor Martin Harvey. Taken in 1884 by photographers Moreno & Lopez, it fits a Victorian trend of actor portraits printed on cards. Albumen prints used glass negatives and stiff card backing. Cartes de visite were small and popular in the 1860s. Cabinet cards came later and were bigger and sturdier. This 1884 albumen photograph by Moreno & Lopez depicts actor Martin Harvey, produced as a carte de visite measuring the size of a visiting card. The image was printed on thin card stock with the photographer’s imprint and collected by Guy Tristram Little, whose theatrical photographs were later donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Cartes de visite, introduced in 1854, were widely popular in the 1860s before being replaced by larger cabinet cards in the late 1870s. The photograph forms part of a larger albumen print collection assembled by Little and later bequeathed to the museum.

Moreno & Lopez spent their days in the backrooms of London theaters, snapping photos of actors mid-performance when the house lights flickered just right.
