Arnoldus Buchelius is a 1614 ink by Crispijn van de Passe I, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a black-and-white portrait of a bearded man with a ruff collar. His face is serious, with deep lines around his eyes and mouth. The image is framed by a thick border with text around it. The artist used tiny lines to create shading, making the face look three-dimensional. The text says the man was 49 years old in 1614. Next, check out the technique: engraving.
Crispijn van de Passe I (1564–1637) was an artist, born in Arnemuiden.
