This print shows the east side of the New Theatre Royal in Covent Garden. W. Russell Reeve made it in 1809, and it’s colored by hand rather than printed. The Romantic style often highlights dramatic buildings and lively city scenes. This one catches the theatre’s bold façade at a time when London’s playhouses were big news.
