H Beard Print Collection is a 1827 by Alessandro Sanquirico, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This print shows a crowd entering a Roman amphitheater. Dark arches frame bright bodies and flowing togas. A single torch lights the scene from the left. The image comes from an 1827 opera about Pompeii’s final day. The artist designed stage sets too, blending theater with printmaking. The print copies his own stage design. The print depicts the entrance to an amphitheater in a scene titled *Ingresso all'Anfiteatro* from the opera *L'Ultimo Giorno di Pompei*, staged at La Scala Theatre, created by Alessandro Sanquirico in 1827.
