Langlois de Blancfort is a 1675 ink by Peter Ludwig van Schuppen, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a black-and-white portrait of a man with curly hair and a high collar. His face is serious, and he’s framed by a large oval border. Around the oval, there are decorative carvings and small figures, plus some text in a fancy script. The tiny details in the hair and collar are made with lots of fine lines, giving it texture. Below the oval, there’s a smaller coat of arms with two figures and a crown. Want to see how this kind of detailed linework is made? Look up engraving.
