A Spanish Carnival, Algeciras is a 1882 watercolor by Alfred East, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This sketch shows a busy street scene during a carnival. Lots of people in bright, loose brushstrokes fill the foreground, wearing colorful clothes. Horses and carriages move through the crowd. In the background, a big white building with a dome stands out, and trees add some green patches. The artist used quick, rough strokes to show movement and energy. Faces and details are blurred, but the colors pop. Check out Sir Alfred East for more loose, lively sketches like this.
