This drawing shows a man in a dark coat with a high collar. His face is sharp and precise. Light catches his cheek and nose. The lines are clean, almost like an engraving. The artist made the face look real—more like a photo than a drawing. Tiny lines fill the shadows. This is called cross-hatching. It traps light and makes skin look solid.
