About this work

This painting shows two figures in bright red robes with gold trim, standing side by side. The person on the left holds a tall staff with a cross at the top, while the person on the right clutches a small book. Both have serious faces and simple gold halos. Above them, a yellow arch frames a pair of wings and red flowers. The figures’ robes are made with bold, flat colors and clean lines, giving them a flat, almost carved look. The background is mostly blue with a few green leaves and red flowers scattered around. This style is similar to what you’d see in cross-hatching.
