Shitaya Hirokōji (Oike)|江戸高名会亭尽 下谷広小路 河内楼|Teahouse at Hirokōji is a 1838 ink by Utagawa Hiroshige, a Baroque work, depicting Dancing, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This print shows a group of people inside a teahouse by a river. A man in black sits at a low table with cups and food. A woman in bright colors dances near an open door. Outside, you can see buildings and trees across the water. The artist used bold colors and sharp lines to show both the people and the landscape. The text on the print gives the name of the place: Hirokōji. Look up Utagawa Hiroshige next to see more of his work.
Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川 広重) or Andō Hiroshige (安藤 広重), born Andō Tokutarō (安藤 徳太郎; 1797 – 12 October 1858), was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, considered the last great master of that tradition.
