This painting shows a tall, old stone castle with a round tower and smaller buildings attached. The walls are rough and dark, with narrow windows and chimneys poking up. A narrow path winds past the castle, lined with bushes and a few trees. The sky is light and soft, almost washed out. The artist used quick brushstrokes to capture the texture of the stone and the play of light. This was a common way to paint scenes from everyday life or real places.
