This sketch shows a person kneeling, drawn in loose red lines on light paper. The figure’s back is turned, with one arm bent at the elbow and the other resting on their knee. The legs are slightly bent, and the whole pose feels quick and rough, like it was drawn fast. The artist left some areas almost blank, focusing only on the basic shapes and shadows. The red lines stand out against the pale background, making the figure pop. Next, check out William Sommer (American, 1867–1949) to see more of his work.
