You see a single sheet of paper filled with quick sketches: a boy’s face in watercolor, a man on horseback in ink, and a faint pencil face floating over them. Dehodencq often used the same page for different ideas, layering them like thoughts. The boy’s soft colors feel personal, while the horse and rider are sharp and quick.
