Untitled is a 1590 paint by Bishandas, a Mughal Painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows Babur, a Mughal emperor, watching workers shape a garden in Kabul. The scene has bright colors and lots of small details. Babur started as a prince in Central Asia. He took Kabul in 1504 and later built the Mughal empire in India. This page comes from a book called the Baburnama that tells his life story. Look for the left half of this pair at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
This illustration from the Baburnama depicts the Mughal emperor Babur overseeing the establishment of the Garden of Fidelity in Kabul, a project begun after he captured the city in 1504. Painted by Bishndas around 1590, the work shows Babur in a yellow coat and red jama, gesturing toward gardeners who are preparing the garden’s water channels and planting pomegranate and other trees within its red sandstone walls. A servant holds a white sash above his shoulder as a symbol of royal status, while a man with a squared board stands near the divided garden layout. The scene is part of a dispersed…
