La Ronde de Nuit (Night Patrol) is a 1878 ink by Félix-Hilaire Buhot, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows a rainy night scene with three people walking in the dark. One person holds a large umbrella, while another walks ahead with a smaller one. The ground is wet, and puddles reflect dim light. Trees and buildings loom in the background, but details are lost in the shadows. The artist used quick, rough lines to show movement and mood, not perfect details. This style was common in the late 1800s when artists focused on everyday life and light. Look up etching, drypoint, aquatint to see how this print was made.
Félix-Hilaire Buhot (1847–1898) was a French artist, born in Valognes.
