Two Women in Profile is a 1617 ink by Jacques Callot, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows two women walking side by side, both turned to the left. The woman on the left wears a wide, striped skirt with a draped shawl and a small hat with a feather. The woman on the right has a loose cloak, a straw hat, and carries a bundle under her arm. Notice how the lines create a sense of movement and texture, especially in their clothing folds. This style was popular in the early 1600s. Next, check out the technique: etching to see how artists like Callot made these sharp, detailed prints.
Jacques Callot was a baroque printmaker and draftsman from the Duchy of Lorraine.
